Outdoor Learning

Outdoor Learning

Outdoor learning takes many different forms - one of them being a dedicated Nature education session with local practitioner, Ross Torode.  He explains,

"Nature Education contributes towards forming an even richer and wholesome learning experience for the children of Le Rondin Primary School.
Regular sessions for KS2 children give an opportunity for children to be immersed in environments such as woodland, coastlines and grasslands.  Time outside in all weathers deemed safe, can be spent exploring, rockpooling or playing animal form games which involve species knowledge, identification and supporting creature habitats. Upon forming trusting and respectful connections with pupils, we introduce the safe and respectful use of tools for bushcraft, fire lighting and cooking. These experiences support pupils’ to find their own comfort and confidence around natural spaces. This contributes towards mental health balance, self esteem and developing physical and fine motor skills.
In summary, we strive for our Nature Education sessions to cultivate curiosity and an ever deepening respect and care for the natural world we all share."
