Year 6 Residential

Day 5 - 19/05/23

๐Ÿงณ Diary of the year 6 travellers! ๐Ÿงณ

Friday 19th May

Well, weโ€™ve come to the end of a spectacular residential. Our bags ๐Ÿงณ were all packed and we went for our final breakfast ๐Ÿณ of the holiday. It was a bacon ๐Ÿฅ“ , fried egg ๐Ÿณ and hash brown kind of day for most of us. Some children had cereal ๐Ÿฅฃ and yoghurt.

We did the final checks then headed towards our bus ๐ŸšŒ waiting point. We had to take a minibus ๐Ÿš to the main coach because it was too big to get down the lane to Calvert. The children ๐Ÿ‘ง ๐Ÿ‘ฆ were fab. It was a long journey to the airport! Lots of traffic ๐Ÿš— ๐Ÿš™ ๐Ÿš— ๐Ÿš— ๐Ÿš™.

We arrived and checked in immediately before going through fast track security. Only 3 bag checks to do!! ๐Ÿคฉ Almost immediately, our gate was called and we went off to gate 27. Bristol airport was very busy and we stuck close to our group leaders. We were so rushed we didnโ€™t get to stop at McDonaldโ€™s! No fries for us ๐Ÿ˜ž!

We were all amazingly patient when waiting for the plane โœˆ๏ธ. Now was our last chance to raid the teachers ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿป๐Ÿง”โ€โ™‚๏ธsweetie ๐Ÿฌ and fruit ๐Ÿ ๐ŸŽ ๐ŸŠ ๐ŸŒ stash!! Mrs Sullivan ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿซ bought us all some water๐Ÿšฐ and then we boarded the plane at 14.20.

The flight โœˆ๏ธ was fairly uneventful, just a chance for us to finish all the crisps and sweets ๐Ÿฌ we still had. The trip had one final surprise for us. As we came into land, the pilot ๐Ÿ‘จโ€โœˆ๏ธ misjudged the runway and couldnโ€™t land!! So we had a double take off and a double landing ๐Ÿ›ฌ!! When we finally did land, everyone was extremely excited to see our families ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ง - we said goodbye ๐Ÿ‘‹ and that was the end of our adventures.

I think we will all sleep well this weekend!!!!

Love from An emotional, exhausted (yet somehow still excited!) year 6

ย

Final note from our teachers:

We have had a wonderful time with the children this week. They have behaved beautifully and really challenged themselves. Their resilience and determination never failed to impress us. We were also seriously impressed with their dance moves!!!

A huge thanks goes to our dedicated PSFA who raised the funds to send us to Calvert. The children will hopefully remember this experience for the rest of their lives.

Thank you so much for your support and for your trust in us to bring them back in one piece! Now, time to collapse!! ๐Ÿ˜†

Many thanks, The Staff Team - Deanna, Lou, Chris, Christine, Paula, Cat & Caitlin

Day 4 - 18/05/23

๐Ÿงณ Diary of the yr 6 travellers! ๐Ÿงณ

Thursday - 18th May 2023

Final activity day!!! As has become our normal, we started the day slowly ๐Ÿข!!! We completed the morning routine: get up, washed ๐Ÿงผ, dressed ๐Ÿ‘• ๐Ÿ‘–, brush our teeth ๐Ÿฆท and headed to breakfast for half 8 ๐Ÿ•ฃ. Todayโ€™s hot brekkie consisted of: scrambled egg ๐Ÿฅš, baked beans, sausage ๐ŸŒญ, hash browns and toast ๐Ÿž. Cold options were the usual - Fruit ๐ŸŽ ๐Ÿ ๐ŸŒ ๐ŸŠ yoghurt and cereal ๐Ÿฅฃ. Some children ๐Ÿ‘ง ๐Ÿ‘ฆ were exceptionally hungry ๐Ÿคค today! We have eaten well this week!!!

Before leaving breakfast, we wished Dominic a happy birthday. He told us all about his new sea life book that he had for his birthday. He was super excited for the day!

While we were chilling, another special surprise happened, Mrs Sullivan ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿซ walked into the quad! We were so excited ๐Ÿ˜† to see her and gave lots of big hugs ๐Ÿค—.

After a bit of a run ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ and some chill time ๐Ÿ˜Ž we headed off to our first activity - archery ๐Ÿน!! Year 6 LOVED this! We played a range of games like rescue the princess ๐Ÿ‘ธ๐Ÿป , holiday โ˜€๏ธ and even did a good old fashioned high score round. Lots of the grown ups ๐Ÿง”๐Ÿป ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿป also had a goโ€ฆ needless to say it got competitive!!

Lunch was another delicious meal, macaroni and cheese ๐Ÿง€ ๐Ÿ˜‹ or jacket potato ๐Ÿฅ” with salad ๐Ÿฅ— on the side. Everyone was pretty hungry by this point so we wolfed our food down. Then for dessert we had birthday cake ๐ŸŽ‚!! The chef had made two HUGE cakes ๐Ÿฐ for Dominic to share with us and the other centre users. We all sang happy birthday to him and tucked in. There were lots of chocolatey ๐Ÿซ faces.

Second activity today was abseiling and the zip wire. This was BRILLIANT ๐Ÿคฉ! Everyone faced their fears ๐Ÿ˜ง and went down the wall. Some even went twice!!! The zip wire was really fun too. Lots of us went super fast. The instructors played a little prank on Lucie which made everyone laugh ๐Ÿ˜‚. They asked her to hold onto a rope then told her to let goโ€ฆ and that released her on the zip wire! Lucie also found it very funny ๐Ÿ˜†.

Just time for a little chill ๐Ÿ˜Ž, pack our bags ๐Ÿงณ and then dinner (chicken Kiev or cottage pie) before we got our fancy clothes on and took to the dance floor. ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ•บ The disco was a huge hit! Everyone had at least one dance, with most of us partying until 9 oโ€™clock ๐Ÿ•˜.

Now weโ€™re all tucked up in bed ๐Ÿ›Œ ready to snooze the night away ๐Ÿ˜ด!

We canโ€™t wait to see you all tomorrow to tell you more about our adventures.

Sleep tight!

Love from a totally wiped out year 6! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

Calvert day 3 - 17/05/23

๐Ÿงณ Diary of the year 6 travellers! ๐Ÿงณย

Day 3 - 17.05.23

What a wonderful day we had today! ๐Ÿ˜

The children had a slightly slower start this morning, with many of them not waking up until 8 oโ€™clock ๐Ÿ•—. We did the usual wash ๐Ÿงผ, teeth ๐Ÿฆท ๐Ÿชฅ and change our clothes ๐Ÿ‘• ๐Ÿ‘–, then headed for breakfast.ย

Today we could choose from bacon ๐Ÿฅ“, fried egg ๐Ÿณ, baked beans ๐Ÿซ˜, hash browns and toast ๐Ÿž. There was also yoghurt and fruit ๐ŸŒ ๐ŸŽ ๐Ÿ ๐ŸŠ available.ย

We had a bit of down time ๐Ÿ˜Ž before heading towards our activities for the day.ย

The first activity was horse riding ๐Ÿ‡. Some children were already experts at this and they were allowed to ride without a leader. There were lots of different horses ๐Ÿด and we even got to groom them.ย

We then had lunch (Jacket potato ๐Ÿฅ”, baked beans ๐Ÿซ˜ and cheese ๐Ÿง€) before another little chill ๐Ÿ˜Ž in the sunshine โ˜€๏ธ.

The second activity today was crate stacking! We were clipped into harnesses and worked in pairs to build a tall tower. We went as high as possible then became human wrecking balls and knocked them down! It was so much fun ๐Ÿคฉ!

We were then lucky enough to go on the giant swing!! We were put in a harness and hoisted up to the ceiling. Then after a count down, our group leaders pulled the cord and we went flying!! Even some of the adults ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿป ๐Ÿ‘ฑ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ went on the swing (and they screamed the loudest!!)

In the evening, we had a swim ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ in the hydrotherapy pool. It was so much fun!! Then it was roast dinner ๐Ÿฒ for tea with ice cream ๐Ÿจ for desert! ๐Ÿ˜‹ย

Our evening entertainment was a visit from Exmoor zoo. Everyone got to handle giant snails ๐ŸŒ, snakes ๐Ÿ an owlet ๐Ÿฆ‰ and even a meerkat! It was wonderful.

We headed to bed and everyone was well asleep before 10 oโ€™clock ๐Ÿ•™.

Final activity day tomorrow - archery, zip line and abseiling to look forward to!!

Night night!

Calvert Day 2 - 16/05/23

๐Ÿงณ Diary of the year 6 travellers! ๐Ÿงณ

Day 2 - 16th May 2023

Oh my goodness! What a day! The sun โ˜€๏ธ has been shining on us all day and we have had a wonderful time ๐Ÿ˜. Our morning ๐ŸŒ… started slowly with the children ๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐Ÿง’๐Ÿ‘ง waking when they were ready. Most of us were up by half past 7 ๐Ÿ•ข but some cheeky monkeys ๐Ÿ™ˆ got up to brush their teeth at half past 5 ๐Ÿ• !!! They were gently guided to snooze ๐Ÿ˜ด for a bit longer!! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Once we were all up it was time for a wash ๐Ÿงผ. We also cleaned our teeth ๐Ÿชฅ ๐Ÿฆท and chose our cool โ€˜threadsโ€™๐ŸŽฝ๐Ÿ‘– for the day (can you spot the lingo creeping in!!). We met for breakfast ๐Ÿณ at twenty five past eight and sat down at our table in the conservatory. At half eight ๐Ÿ•ฃ the hot food was served!! ๐Ÿ˜‹ We had a choice of scrambled eggs ๐Ÿฅš, sausage ๐ŸŒญ, mushrooms ๐Ÿ„, hash browns and toast ๐Ÿž. There was also cereal ๐Ÿฅฃ, fruit ๐Ÿ ๐ŸŽ ๐ŸŒ ๐ŸŠ and yoghurt. Some children chose a fruit juice ๐Ÿงƒ to go with their breakfast, but lots of us drank water๐Ÿšฐ or milk ๐Ÿฅ›.

Once we completed some serious carb loading, we headed back to the houses ๐Ÿ˜๏ธ to chill and get prepared for the day. We checked schedules, put on suncream and did the usual pre activity toilet check ๐Ÿšฝ. Everyone met at ten to ten, ready to find out our groups. We were split into 2 groups, Croyde and Mortehoe and went off to our first activities.

Each group did the same activities, just the opposite way round! One activity was rock climbing ๐Ÿง—โ€โ™€๏ธ. Because it was a beautiful day โ˜€๏ธ, we spent the entire time, climbing outside ๐ŸŒณ. The sun shone down as we were hoisted, belayed and encouraged to try our best ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป. EVERY CHILD had a go! With many of them climbing to the top of the walls. There was lots of resilience being shown (Deema Duck ๐Ÿฆ†) as well as some fabulous teamwork (Tim and Tina Tortoise ๐Ÿข ๐Ÿข) and trust in our friends to keep us safe. Some of the grown ups even had a go!

We all went for lunch (cheese pasty and potato wedges with a choice of brownie, flapjack or marble cake for dessert) and enjoyed a bit more chill ๐Ÿ˜Ž time. Lots of children chose to use the iPad ๐Ÿ“ฑ for their chill time, especially those who went cycling ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™€๏ธ first!!

Talking of cycling, this was our second activity of the day. Most children (and some adults) rode the kmx bikes around the reservoir. Some adults cycled children in the assisted bike, others followed (usually by running!!) the 3 wheel trikes and helped them with steering!!!

We then headed back to the houses ๐Ÿ˜๏ธ to chill, shower ๐Ÿšฟ and make ourselves smell great again! This evening, we played outside ๐ŸŒณ and headed for dinner at half past 6 where we had the choice of hot pot ๐Ÿฒ or lasagne ๐Ÿ. Then for desert we had cheesecake ๐Ÿฐ - it was delicious ๐Ÿ˜‹!!

The children were offered a choice between a chill night or a movie ๐ŸŽฅ and the vote was fairly unanimous- chilling out it was!!! ๐Ÿ˜Ž Unsurprisingly, all children were in bed and asleep a lot quicker tonight - no half one chat sessions here!! ๐Ÿฅฑ ๐Ÿ˜ด

We are so excited for tomorrow & canโ€™t wait to see what it will bring!

See you soon!

Lots of love from Year 6 ๐Ÿ˜

Calvert Day 1 - 15.05.2023

๐Ÿงณ Diary of the year 6 travellers!! ๐Ÿงณย
Day 1 - Monday

Well - here we go! Itโ€™s another year 6 residential, with a fabulous bunch of children! ๐Ÿ‘ง ๐Ÿ‘ฆย

We started the day with a movie ๐ŸŽฅ in school while the teachers helped us check our bags - we watched the new Space Jam movie - Bugs Bunny ๐Ÿฐ made us laugh! ๐Ÿ˜‚ย

At 10:45 we got to choose ANY snack we wanted - what a treat!! โค๏ธ Lots of yummy crisps, yoghurts and chocolates being munched ๐Ÿ˜‹ before a run ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ around the playground to burn off some energy!

At 11.15 (after a quick loo break ๐Ÿ˜) we gathered in the hall to get our hats ๐Ÿงข, sunflower lanyards ๐ŸŒป and suitcases ๐Ÿงณ ready to go to the airport โœˆ๏ธ.

Mrs Sullivan ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿซ went ahead to meet us there. We got off the buses ๐ŸšŒ and took our cases to check in. The adults helped us get our tickets ๐ŸŽซ and we watched the bags leave on the conveyor belt. It was all VERY exciting! ๐Ÿ˜†

We waved goodbye ๐Ÿ‘‹ to Mrs Sullivan ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿซ and headed through security ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Some people had to go through the scanner and poor Christine had to empty the entire medical bag!! ๐Ÿš‘

When we got to departures, we filled our water bottles๐Ÿšฐ and waited to board the plane โœˆ๏ธ. This is where the excitement really hit in!!

We took off โœˆ๏ธ at around 12.55 but suddenly, the pilot ๐Ÿ‘จโ€โœˆ๏ธ told us we had to turn back! Some birds ๐Ÿฆ had tried to grab a lift on the wing of the plane so an engineer ๐Ÿ‘ทโ€โ™€๏ธ had to check it was ok๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป. Luckily, the birds ๐Ÿฆ were ok, as was the plane โœˆ๏ธ so we could leave again! So exciting to do a double take off on our first school residential!

We landed in Bristol airport and walked to get our suitcases ๐Ÿงณ. The belt was loud and the airport was busy but we were amazing, following all the adults and making great choices! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿปย

Once we had our bags, it was time to get the bus ๐ŸšŒ. Our bus was HUGE!!! We could all have individual seats ๐Ÿ’บ ย if we wanted! It was nice and cool โ„๏ธ and the seats were very comfyโ€ฆ some of us even grabbed a snooze ๐Ÿ˜ด!

We had a lovely bus driver who pointed out fun things on our journey, like wind turbines and our next stop - McDonalds ๐ŸŸ!!ย

We had just enough time for a quick burger ๐Ÿ” or chicken nuggets ๐Ÿ— and obviously had to collect the all important free toy ๐Ÿงธ!! Then it was back to the bus for the final leg of the journey.

We arrived at Calvert at around 6.30pm and went straight for dinner. Tonightโ€™s choice was chilli con carne ๐Ÿ› or carbonara ๐Ÿ. We then had chocolate brownie for dessert ๐Ÿ˜‹!!

Finally, we had a wander around the centre, getting a chance to play on the swings and a short walk through the nature area ๐ŸŒณ. We all bundled to bed ๐Ÿ›Œ, and despite some big talk (!) pretty much everyone was fast asleep by around half ten ๐Ÿ•ฅ.

Tomorrow the real adventure begins - we canโ€™t wait to share all our stories with you!

Good night ๐Ÿ˜ดย
Love from a very sleepy ๐Ÿฅฑ year 6!

Below you will find a copy of the diary year 6 kept of their experiences and some photos from our week of adventures.

We look forward to what next year will bring!

Day 1

Wow! What a busy time weโ€™ve had already!!

The children arrived this morning with an amazing amount of luggage. Everyone was incredibly excited. We left our luggage in the hall and went to our classrooms for a super chill morning. Chris helped us choose the right size wetsuits and Cathy gave us our matching hats ๐Ÿงข Some people helped Cathy make our fillings and prep jacket potatoes ๐Ÿฅ” for our dinner tonight. We also made jelly for our desert!๐Ÿฆ We had snack as normal and then watched sing in class. After lunch we got our things ready to head to the beach ๐Ÿ–

We arrived at Lโ€™Eree beach at around 2pm and had so much fun; digging holes ๐Ÿ•ณ, building sandcastles ๐Ÿฐ, playing football โšฝ๏ธ or tennis ๐ŸŽพ and paddling in the sea ๐ŸŒŠ! We then started the walk up to the campsite ๐Ÿ•. Some of us got a lift with Caitlin or Christine but 5 brave students walked all the way!! We were all tired ๐Ÿ˜ด!

However, the fun wasnโ€™t over!!

Then we got a quick snack and piled into our tents โ›บ๏ธ. Everyone was really excited to see their bedrooms! We settled in then had a play on the playground and pirate ship ๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ. We had a delicious dinner ๐Ÿฒ, delivered by Miss King, and went for a post dinner walk through the lanes. The flowers ๐Ÿ’ and views were beautiful ๐Ÿ˜!

When we arrived back, we cooked sโ€™mores on the campfire ๐Ÿ”ฅ. They were delicious ๐Ÿ˜‹!

Finally we got tucked into our tents and almost everyone was in bed ๐Ÿ›Œ by 9pm! Already tired out ๐Ÿฅฑ!! We canโ€™t wait to share our adventures with you tomorrow!

Sleep tight, Love from year 6.

Day 2

Wellโ€ฆ if we thought day one was busyโ€ฆ day two was MAD ๐Ÿคช!!

We started off with a bit of a slow morning, lots of children slept ๐Ÿ˜ด really well last night. We got up, showered ๐Ÿงผ, brushed our teeth ๐Ÿฆท and headed over for breakfast at the fire pit ๐Ÿ”ฅ. This morning we had cereal ๐Ÿฅฃ, yoghurt and fruit ๐ŸŽ ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ‡๐ŸŠ. We also had apple juice ๐Ÿงƒ and orange juice ๐Ÿฅค. Then we had our first big job, it was time to make our lunches ๐Ÿฅช. Here was what we had to doโ€ฆ

- We buttered our bread ๐Ÿž

- We chose our fillings: ๐Ÿ–๐Ÿง€๐Ÿฅš๐ŸŸ

- We made our sandwich ๐Ÿฅช

- We chose our fruit: ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ‡๐ŸŠ๐Ÿฅ

- We picked our yoghurt and cheese string.

- We chose one snack and crisps.

- We chose our drink.

It was then time for us to walk ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšถ down to Lโ€™Eree beach ๐Ÿ– for another play in the sand. We dug so many holes ๐Ÿ•ณ today, and did some beach art ๐Ÿ–ผ. Tomorrow, we might try a mandala. Watch this spaceโ€ฆ Then it was time for our tasty lunch ๐Ÿฅช. The children all sat on the picnic blankets under the gazebo but the adults had to hold it down. The wind ๐Ÿ’จ was so strong it nearly blew away!! It was very funny! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Our next activity was another short walk๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšถ to Lihou headland. Everyone was so sensible on the road and took lots of care when walking. We split into two groups: Ross, Rachel, Chris and Cathy went with 11 children to see the causeway ๐Ÿชจ and explore the shoreline ๐ŸŒŠ. Christine, Caitlin and Lydia took 10 children to explore the batterie. We had a go at sitting on the cannons and then rolled down the hill. It made us laugh when Caitlin tried to catch us.

Our next adventure was at Oatlands for mini-golf โ›ณ๏ธ. We split into our tent โ›บ๏ธ groups and played for about an hour. Because we scored as a whole team, everybody was a winner! ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿฅ‡ We had just enough time for a sneaky ice-cream ๐Ÿฆ (Or a slushie๐Ÿฅค for those who couldnโ€™t eat ice-cream) before we had to jump on the bus ๐ŸšŒ back to camp ๐Ÿ•. When we got back, we had half an hour to sort our clothes and have a chill. Some people even fell asleep ๐Ÿ’ค!!! Luckily, our dinner arrived early and we munched down delicious spaghetti bolognaise ๐Ÿ with cheese ๐Ÿง€ and a side of crunchy garlic bread ๐Ÿฅ–. Lots of children had two helpings, some children (and grown ups!) had THREE!!!

We had just enough time to clean ๐Ÿงฝ our tables and a play in the playground ๐Ÿ› before the rain ๐ŸŒง came down. So it was back to our tents โ›บ๏ธ for some chilax-ing! L

ots of children chose an earlier bedtime tonight and hopefully we will all sleep ๐Ÿ˜ด well!!

Sleep tight! Love from, Year 6!!

Day 3

Well, itโ€™s official, year 6 are tired ๐Ÿ˜ด๐Ÿ˜‚

Today was another busy day! Slightly slower start with another delicious breakfast. Today we had some super sweet pineapple ๐Ÿ and kiwi ๐Ÿฅ alongside our cereal ๐Ÿฅฃ, grapes ๐Ÿ‡, apples ๐ŸŽ ๐Ÿ and bananas ๐ŸŒ.

Then we packed our lunches - two wraps ๐ŸŒฏ (maximum one Nutella ๐Ÿซ and one healthy), crisps, fruits, cheesestring๐Ÿง€ and rice crispy squares as a treat! ๐Ÿ˜‹ It was then time to hit the beach ๐Ÿ again.

We walked to Lโ€™Eree (already in our bathers ๐Ÿฉณ๐Ÿฉฑ) and lots of children went down to swim in the sea ๐ŸŒŠ. It was full of seaweed but so much fun! We had a splashing ๐Ÿ’ฆ fight and then it was time to soak the teachers ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿซ ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿซ! Other children stayed at the top of the beach ๐Ÿ, building sand castles ๐Ÿฐ and digging even MORE holes ๐Ÿ•ณ!! Itโ€™s lucky the tide comes in and out or Lโ€™Eree beach would be a dangerous place to walk after this week!

It was then time for a quick bus ๐ŸšŒ journey to Sausmarez park ๐ŸŒณ where we ate our lunch. Lots of children tried either cucumber wedges ๐Ÿฅ’ or tomato chunks ๐Ÿ… today ( Thanks Mrs S for chopping them!!) . We then had just enough time to go to the shop ๐Ÿฌ to spend some of our pocket money ๐Ÿ’ฐ. Some children chose sweets ๐Ÿฌ, others chose a toy ๐Ÿงธ. Everyone was happy ๐Ÿ˜Š!

Fast forward a few hours (including showers ๐Ÿšฟ iPad time๐Ÿ“ฑ and a quick play on the pirate ship ๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ ) and we were ready for our dinner. Christine led us to the Taste of India restaurant. All the children were fascinated ๐Ÿ˜ฎ by the decor in the restaurant. We talked about Indian music ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ ๐ŸŽถ , food ๐Ÿฅ˜ and art ๐Ÿ–ผ. We then tucked into a huge feast!!! ๐Ÿ˜‹

โญ๏ธ Star moment today was the amount of different foods that everyone tried. We had so many new experiences for our taste buds! ๐Ÿ‘… โญ๏ธ

Our favourite foods were: - Pakoras ๐Ÿง… - naan bread ๐Ÿซ“ - poppadoms - Afgahni Chicken Korma ๐Ÿฅ˜ - pilau rice ๐Ÿš Everyone was shattered after dinner so we walked ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšถback to camp ๐Ÿ• and had a very quiet ๐Ÿค end to the day with almost all children fast asleep ๐Ÿ˜ด by 10pm.

Everyone is having a โœจ fabulous โœจ time. We canโ€™t believe we only have two days leftโ€ฆ time really flies when you are having fun!!

Sleep well, Lots of love from A very sleepy year 6! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Day 4 & 5

So we have come to the end of our week!!

We have had so much fun and our last day was no exception. We started the morning ๐ŸŒ… by getting up a little later - can you tell we are tired ๐Ÿ˜ด ?! Breakfast outdoors was another hit - cereals ๐Ÿฅฃ, yoghurt and more fruit: ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿ‡๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ๐Ÿฅ. We then made our sandwiches and packed our lunch ๐Ÿฅ—. Today we had jelly in our lunch as a treat! It was then off to the beach ๐Ÿ- todayโ€™s adventures were at Portelet beach. The sun โ˜€๏ธ was shining and there was very little wind ๐Ÿ’จ today - it really felt like summer!

We split into two groups - one group went walking ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ with Ross, Christine, Cathy and Rachel. They went through the forest ๐ŸŒณ towards the Fairy Ring. The children were enjoying nature ๐Ÿฆ‹๐ŸŒ and even saw some seals ๐Ÿฆญ! The second group went paddle boarding with Caitlin, Chris, Lydia and some instructors from Outdoor Guernsey. Everyone LOVED ๐Ÿฅฐ this. We jumped off the paddle boards and some children were thrown into the water ๐ŸŒŠ. Then it was time for lunch ๐Ÿฅ— and a big swap round. Everyone was so excited to do their next task!

After we swapped, we bused ๐ŸšŒ back to camp ๐Ÿ• and showered ๐Ÿšฟ. It was then time for our pizza ๐Ÿ•- everyone was ravenous!! We stuffed our faces and then jumped into pjs for our movie ๐ŸŽฅ ๐Ÿฟ night. We watched the BFG before tumbling into bed ๐Ÿ›Œ. Everyone slept soundly! ๐Ÿ˜ด ๐Ÿ’ค

This morning, the children were so grateful to have a special BBQ breakfast cooked by Mrs Sullivan. We had sausauge baguettes donated by Jason at Perelle Butchers... They were stunning!! The children then packed their bags ๐Ÿงณ and helped to tidy up ๐Ÿงน the tents โ›บ๏ธ. It was then a bus back to school ๐Ÿซ ready for us to be picked up at half past 12 ๐Ÿ•œ. We canโ€™t wait to see you all! Lots of love, Year 6!

A message from our teachers:

This week has been crazy, incredible, wonderful and exhausting in equal measures. All the children have been fantastic representatives for the school and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of their residential. We have had a fantastic time and they have been such a delight to further get to know them through this week. We would also like to say a big thank you to all companies and people who have helped us get here and experience so many wonderful things such as (but not limited to): Le Rondin PTFA, Canaccord Financial, Camp de Rรชves, Outdoor Guernsey, Taste of India, Perelle Butchers, The New Manor Hotel and many more. Finally, a sneaky shout out and huge thanks to all the staff who have helped and stayed over this week. It wouldnโ€™t have been the same without them. We hope that they have a fabulous rest this weekend (as will we!) and we will see them bright and early on Monday morning. โ˜บ๏ธโ˜บ๏ธ

Many thanks, The Year 6 residential team.
