Intent

At Le Rondin,  we aim to prepare our learners for their future, both at home and for employment, by giving them the opportunities to gain knowledge and develop skills that will equip them for an ever changing digital world.

Digital Empowerment at Le Rondin, a bespoke and appropriate curriculum,  will focus on a progression of skills in digital literacy, computer science, information technology and online safety to ensure that our pupils become competent in safely using, as well as understanding, technology.

Our intention is that our pupils feel empowered and that children’s creativity and cross curricular learning is supported when engaging children and enriching their experiences in school.

Implementation

At Le Rondin school we encourage our pupils to:

  • to ‘select and use technology’ to embed technology across all areas of learning curriculum
  • Use devices, as appropriate, and applications that are relevant to learning
  • to be confident to use technology and our practitioners to be confident too in their daily teaching provision
  • take control and be creative in their learning
  • develop their speaking, writing and socialising using technology
  • to use technology positively, inclusively, responsibly and safely.

Impact

We will see:

  • Both adults and children using technology daily to enhance teaching and learning
  • Communication with home and school continuing to be effective through the use of technology
  • Learning is celebrated and shared these positive experiences using technology
  • Equip young learners with practical skills by becoming confident using technology

As we are a school for children with Special Educational Needs it is our aspiration that the large majority of children at Le Rondin will achieve Digital Empowerment expectations in line with their developmental stage.
