Day 1

Wow! What a busy time we’ve had already!!

The children arrived this morning with an amazing amount of luggage. Everyone was incredibly excited. We left our luggage in the hall and went to our classrooms for a super chill morning. Chris helped us choose the right size wetsuits and Cathy gave us our matching hats 🧢 Some people helped Cathy make our fillings and prep jacket potatoes 🥔 for our dinner tonight. We also made jelly for our desert!🍦 We had snack as normal and then watched sing in class. After lunch we got our things ready to head to the beach 🏖

We arrived at L’Eree beach at around 2pm and had so much fun; digging holes 🕳, building sandcastles 🏰, playing football ⚽️ or tennis 🎾 and paddling in the sea 🌊! We then started the walk up to the campsite 🏕. Some of us got a lift with Caitlin or Christine but 5 brave students walked all the way!! We were all tired 😴!

However, the fun wasn’t over!!

Then we got a quick snack and piled into our tents ⛺️. Everyone was really excited to see their bedrooms! We settled in then had a play on the playground and pirate ship 🏴‍☠️. We had a delicious dinner 🍲, delivered by Miss King, and went for a post dinner walk through the lanes. The flowers 💐 and views were beautiful 😍!

When we arrived back, we cooked s’mores on the campfire 🔥. They were delicious 😋!

Finally we got tucked into our tents and almost everyone was in bed 🛌 by 9pm! Already tired out 🥱!! We can’t wait to share our adventures with you tomorrow!

Sleep tight, Love from year 6.

Day 2

Well… if we thought day one was busy… day two was MAD 🤪!!

We started off with a bit of a slow morning, lots of children slept 😴 really well last night. We got up, showered 🧼, brushed our teeth 🦷 and headed over for breakfast at the fire pit 🔥. This morning we had cereal 🥣, yoghurt and fruit 🍎 🍌🍇🍊. We also had apple juice 🧃 and orange juice 🥤. Then we had our first big job, it was time to make our lunches 🥪. Here was what we had to do…

- We buttered our bread 🍞

- We chose our fillings: 🍖🧀🥚🐟

- We made our sandwich 🥪

- We chose our fruit: 🍎🍏🍌🍇🍊🥝

- We picked our yoghurt and cheese string.

- We chose one snack and crisps.

- We chose our drink.

It was then time for us to walk 🚶‍♀️🚶 down to L’Eree beach 🏖 for another play in the sand. We dug so many holes 🕳 today, and did some beach art 🖼. Tomorrow, we might try a mandala. Watch this space… Then it was time for our tasty lunch 🥪. The children all sat on the picnic blankets under the gazebo but the adults had to hold it down. The wind 💨 was so strong it nearly blew away!! It was very funny! 😂

Our next activity was another short walk🚶‍♀️🚶 to Lihou headland. Everyone was so sensible on the road and took lots of care when walking. We split into two groups: Ross, Rachel, Chris and Cathy went with 11 children to see the causeway 🪨 and explore the shoreline 🌊. Christine, Caitlin and Lydia took 10 children to explore the batterie. We had a go at sitting on the cannons and then rolled down the hill. It made us laugh when Caitlin tried to catch us.

Our next adventure was at Oatlands for mini-golf ⛳️. We split into our tent ⛺️ groups and played for about an hour. Because we scored as a whole team, everybody was a winner! 🏆🥇 We had just enough time for a sneaky ice-cream 🍦 (Or a slushie🥤 for those who couldn’t eat ice-cream) before we had to jump on the bus 🚌 back to camp 🏕. When we got back, we had half an hour to sort our clothes and have a chill. Some people even fell asleep 💤!!! Luckily, our dinner arrived early and we munched down delicious spaghetti bolognaise 🍝 with cheese 🧀 and a side of crunchy garlic bread 🥖. Lots of children had two helpings, some children (and grown ups!) had THREE!!!

We had just enough time to clean 🧽 our tables and a play in the playground 🛝 before the rain 🌧 came down. So it was back to our tents ⛺️ for some chilax-ing! Lots of children chose an earlier bedtime tonight and hopefully we will all sleep 😴 well!!

Sleep tight! Love from, Year 6!!

Day 3

Well, it’s official, year 6 are tired 😴😂

Today was another busy day! Slightly slower start with another delicious breakfast. Today we had some super sweet pineapple 🍍 and kiwi 🥝 alongside our cereal 🥣, grapes 🍇, apples 🍎 🍏 and bananas 🍌.

Then we packed our lunches - two wraps 🌯 (maximum one Nutella 🍫 and one healthy), crisps, fruits, cheesestring🧀 and rice crispy squares as a treat! 😋 It was then time to hit the beach 🏝 again.

We walked to L’Eree (already in our bathers 🩳🩱) and lots of children went down to swim in the sea 🌊. It was full of seaweed but so much fun! We had a splashing 💦 fight and then it was time to soak the teachers 👩🏻‍🏫 👨🏻‍🏫! Other children stayed at the top of the beach 🏝, building sand castles 🏰 and digging even MORE holes 🕳!! It’s lucky the tide comes in and out or L’Eree beach would be a dangerous place to walk after this week!

It was then time for a quick bus 🚌 journey to Sausmarez park 🌳 where we ate our lunch. Lots of children tried either cucumber wedges 🥒 or tomato chunks 🍅 today ( Thanks Mrs S for chopping them!!) . We then had just enough time to go to the shop 🏬 to spend some of our pocket money 💰. Some children chose sweets 🍬, others chose a toy 🧸. Everyone was happy 😊!

Fast forward a few hours (including showers 🚿 iPad time📱 and a quick play on the pirate ship 🏴‍☠️ ) and we were ready for our dinner. Christine led us to the Taste of India restaurant. All the children were fascinated 😮 by the decor in the restaurant. We talked about Indian music 🇮🇳 🎶 , food 🥘 and art 🖼. We then tucked into a huge feast!!! 😋

⭐️ Star moment today was the amount of different foods that everyone tried. We had so many new experiences for our taste buds! 👅 ⭐️

Our favourite foods were: - Pakoras 🧅 - naan bread 🫓 - poppadoms - Afgahni Chicken Korma 🥘 - pilau rice 🍚 Everyone was shattered after dinner so we walked 🚶‍♀️🚶back to camp 🏕 and had a very quiet 🤐 end to the day with almost all children fast asleep 😴 by 10pm.

Everyone is having a ✨ fabulous ✨ time. We can’t believe we only have two days left… time really flies when you are having fun!!

Sleep well, Lots of love from A very sleepy year 6! 😊

Day 4 & 5

So we have come to the end of our week!!

We have had so much fun and our last day was no exception. We started the morning 🌅 by getting up a little later - can you tell we are tired 😴 ?! Breakfast outdoors was another hit - cereals 🥣, yoghurt and more fruit: 🍏🍎🍊🍇🍌🍍🥝. We then made our sandwiches and packed our lunch 🥗. Today we had jelly in our lunch as a treat! It was then off to the beach 🏝- today’s adventures were at Portelet beach. The sun ☀️ was shining and there was very little wind 💨 today - it really felt like summer!

We split into two groups - one group went walking 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️ with Ross, Christine, Cathy and Rachel. They went through the forest 🌳 towards the Fairy Ring. The children were enjoying nature 🦋🌍 and even saw some seals 🦭! The second group went paddle boarding with Caitlin, Chris, Lydia and some instructors from Outdoor Guernsey. Everyone LOVED 🥰 this. We jumped off the paddle boards and some children were thrown into the water 🌊. Then it was time for lunch 🥗 and a big swap round. Everyone was so excited to do their next task!

After we swapped, we bused 🚌 back to camp 🏕 and showered 🚿. It was then time for our pizza 🍕- everyone was ravenous!! We stuffed our faces and then jumped into pjs for our movie 🎥 🍿 night. We watched the BFG before tumbling into bed 🛌. Everyone slept soundly! 😴 💤

This morning, the children were so grateful to have a special BBQ breakfast cooked by Mrs Sullivan. We had sausauge baguettes donated by Jason at Perelle Butchers... They were stunning!! The children then packed their bags 🧳 and helped to tidy up 🧹 the tents ⛺️. It was then a bus back to school 🏫 ready for us to be picked up at half past 12 🕜. We can’t wait to see you all! Lots of love, Year 6!

A message from our teachers:

This week has been crazy, incredible, wonderful and exhausting in equal measures. All the children have been fantastic representatives for the school and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of their residential. We have had a fantastic time and they have been such a delight to further get to know them through this week. We would also like to say a big thank you to all companies and people who have helped us get here and experience so many wonderful things such as (but not limited to): Le Rondin PTFA, Canaccord Financial, Camp de Rêves, Outdoor Guernsey, Taste of India, Perelle Butchers, The New Manor Hotel and many more. Finally, a sneaky shout out and huge thanks to all the staff who have helped and stayed over this week. It wouldn’t have been the same without them. We hope that they have a fabulous rest this weekend (as will we!) and we will see them bright and early on Monday morning. ☺️☺️

Many thanks, The Year 6 residential team.
